Hope your day is getting started on the right foot. You know, we put high expectations on ourselves that no one cares about (smile).
There was a time I would place deadlines on myself and be over the edge trying to meet them. I would have to do things at a certain time or else the world would fall apart. The truth is no one knew about these deadlines and my time schedules but me. It was not until I realized one day…hold on wait a minute I can do this whenever and however I needed as long I was doing what the Lord was telling me to do. I know this may seem like a no brainer to some but for many it is not.
You see when we place these high demands and expectations on ourselves we tend to get ourselves all tangled up in a mess. We feel obligated to things and people for no good reason. The truth is they could care less but you all bothered about something that does not exist. Who says this newsletter has to be written right at 6AM in the morning? Who says you have to do videos every day? Who says that the kids have to go to a summer camp? Who says that you have to take an expensive vacation? Why not vacation in your state? Who says that you have to show pictures on social media of you doing every little thing with you family so people will think you are doing well? Who says that you have to over perform at work to get the attention of your boss? Who says you have to be at the church every time the doors open and who says you have to raise your hand to volunteer for everything? Who says you have to join this or that circle, that board of directors, club or sorority to be “in” to get better opportunities? Who says you have to join the John Maxwell team to be recognized as a leader and speaker? Who says all these things? Where is the manual? Where is it in the Bible? I must have missed it!
Today I encourage you to rest in the freedom that the Lord gives us; in this non-burdensome place we are free to live and please God and not man. Does that not sound like a breath of fresh air? Whew that gives me sweet relief just saying it! Stop placing unnecessary burdens on yourself so that you can be free to live on purpose without self-inflicted weariness and headaches. I know it may be challenging but by God’s grace we will give you the power to LIVE IN FREEDOM!
For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ. – Galatians 1:10
When a man's ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him. – Proverbs 16:7
