I pray that you are well on this Monday. Over the weekend we have been easing out of vacation mode. Every time we come back from vacay I come to realize that I have to cook and make up my own bed. The struggle becomes real LOL! But I am always happy to be back in my own bed. Over the last week or so we took a road trip to California to stay at our favorite boutique hotel spot, we spent a day with some lovely friends who also live in Colorado but were in Cali at the time as well. We had no big plans at all. The plan was to get away from our surroundings and enjoy ourselves. I can say that we did just that and it was so good. The two day road trip gave me plenty of time to journal and talk to the Father.
What will you do this summer to get away from the norm; get away from work, cleaning, cooking, etc. etc. and just be free? Whether it is with family or alone you need to have a slice of this summer to rest, reflect, and refresh. You cannot keep going like a little energizer bunny.
Often when we keep going with no mental or spiritual breaks this is sign that we DO NOT trust God. Even the Father rested on the 7th day. I used to be afraid to not do anything on any day and I found myself striving in my own strength and became overwhelmed and frustrated. When I worked all the time without stopping pride creeped in and led me to believe that I was working harder than the next person and therefore if they did not work as hard and was as consistent as I was then they were not doing anything much. OH the drama!
I want to encourage you to enjoy your summer, take time to rest from your work, enjoy friends and family, and still WORK HARD! I am praying that as you take more time to rest in the word of God, pray, and spend time with loved ones you will see that your hard work will yield greater and more effective results. Why? Because when we become more consistent with the Lord our work will be powered not just by our efforts alone but supernaturally by the grace of God.
1 Corinthians 15:10
But whatever I am now, it is all because God poured out his special favor on me—and not without results. For I have worked harder than any of the other apostles; yet it was not I but God who was working through me by his grace.
